Online Tutoring and Homework Help
A remote platform will be offered for students to obtain assistance with core subjects.

Currently, students should utilize their Tutor.com Upward Bound accounts to obtain credit for Upward Bound attendance. All students must log in for at least one (1) hour per week to obtain credit! This site is available by use of a computer, (desktop or laptop), tablet or iPad or your mobile cell phone. To access your account click here and enter (username: Firstname.Lastname, Password: umbccub).

Khan Academy is also available for your use.  To receive credit for using Khan Academy, you must visit www.khanacademy.org/join. Scroll down to where it asks you to join a class and then enter our class code TNHBCZT2  into the box under “Join a Class” and click Join the Class so that we can monitor your progress.

 

Internet Connection

Please let us know if you do not have internet access, a cell phone or a laptop!!! Comcast is offering assistance with internet access.  Interested households are asked to apply online at www.internetessentials.com. Please use the promo code TRIO2020. (Note that this offer is exclusively for TRIO participants.) The first two months of this service will be free. Afterward, the monthly rate will be $9.95. However, participants may cancel this service at any time. Questions about signing up or using the service may be sent to internet_essentials_partner@comcast.comBe sure to identify your TRIO program in such communications.

Several Cellphone carriers are also offering free hotspot usage with phone plans.  Check with your carrier for information.

  • AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot-spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10/month plans to low-income families
  • Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).
  • T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge

Academic Counseling Support

Academic Counseling sessions may be scheduled using  UMBCUPWARDBOUND.ClickBook.net. You may contact individual staff as you normally would via phone but should you need additional assistance, appointments are also available.
